Pic of the Day

No, it's not Fostoria...and it's not somewhere in Georgia, either, though you might think so by the power represented here....it IS Willard, Ohio, the terminal out of which come all CSX westbounds and to which go all CSX eastbounds on the B&O in and out of the east side of Fostoria. Other than 6 yard slug sets that are used for switching (most of which were sitting around doing nothing), and several sets of power switching/passing through already assigned to trains, what you see before you is the power Willard had available on Thurday afternoon for running trains. That would be CSXT 5864 and 5910 (B36-7's) and CSXT 5974 (B40-8 in NS black). This was a nice catch to find these three together...it just would have been even nicer to find anything else in Willard. But there was plenty of power in Bellevue on NS earlier in the day, and it isn't every day you can find 6 yard slug sets sitting around (literally) in one area, so who's complaining?

March 5th, 2008:

Spring may be on the way soon, but it was certainly not here yet on this winter morning of storm recovery, full of snow, ice, and grey skies.

Through the scene next to old B&O depot in Fostoria blasts BNSF SD70MAC # 9618, looking rather ghostly with its "BN" logo no longer on the nose. She is leading CSXT train U-994-04 (Cicero, IL/BNSF - Colona, PA Powder River coal loads) eastbound on B&O main # 2, along with BNSF SD70MAC # 9404, also in the "executive" colors. Both units also have fairly newly applied "swoosh" patches on the sides of the cabs, not visible here.

The winter weather delayed many trains on this day, but didn't keep the Fostoria Rails from being just as busy as ever.
