Railfan Alert # 16

Heads up for: Willard/Greenwich, OH, east along the B&O to Cumberland, MD, and on to Chambersburg, PA:

Q-136-07 (Chicago/Bedford Park Yard, IL - Chambersburg, PA) passed through Fostoria eastbound at 8:39 am behind CSXT ES44DC #'s 5483 and 5295.

This is the second of the the new Q-136/Q-135 trains that has run, and will be operating between Chicago and the new intermodal terminal at Chambersburg, PA. The train was all TOFC, consisting of a mix of Schneider, CSX Intermodal, and American Eagle Lines trailers, with roughly 30-40 total. Q-136 followed Q-164 east; apparently, it will be part of the morning line up of eastbound intermodals - while I haven't seen an official schedule for this train, yesterday's Q-136-06 passed through Fostoria at 8:45 am, just 6 minutes later than today's train - it arrived in Chambersburg 19 hours later at 3:40 am, this morning.

March 5th, 2008:

Spring may be on the way soon, but it was certainly not here yet on this winter morning of storm recovery, full of snow, ice, and grey skies.

Through the scene next to old B&O depot in Fostoria blasts BNSF SD70MAC # 9618, looking rather ghostly with its "BN" logo no longer on the nose. She is leading CSXT train U-994-04 (Cicero, IL/BNSF - Colona, PA Powder River coal loads) eastbound on B&O main # 2, along with BNSF SD70MAC # 9404, also in the "executive" colors. Both units also have fairly newly applied "swoosh" patches on the sides of the cabs, not visible here.

The winter weather delayed many trains on this day, but didn't keep the Fostoria Rails from being just as busy as ever.
