Pic of the Day (218)

NS is having their way today in Fostoria! No doubt in large part due to the service disruption caused by the derailment and explosion of propane tankers on Q-390-11 yesterday in Oneida, New York, there have been NO CSX westbounds straight through on the B&O since at least 6:30 AM, and only ONE eastbound (Q-164-13). A small smattering of trains on the C&O have been the only other thing NS has had to worry about in a town where they often encounter some LONG waits to get across both CSX diamonds. In the meantime, a fleet of NS eastbounds (L76, 218, 288, 146, and 10E) was able to parade across the diamonds with ease. NS SD70M # 2624 cruises along with sister # 2617 past the B&O diamond and Main Street with train 218 (Chicago/Calumet Yard, IL - Greensboro, NC intermodal), taking advantage of the clear path in front of her.

March 5th, 2008:

Spring may be on the way soon, but it was certainly not here yet on this winter morning of storm recovery, full of snow, ice, and grey skies.

Through the scene next to old B&O depot in Fostoria blasts BNSF SD70MAC # 9618, looking rather ghostly with its "BN" logo no longer on the nose. She is leading CSXT train U-994-04 (Cicero, IL/BNSF - Colona, PA Powder River coal loads) eastbound on B&O main # 2, along with BNSF SD70MAC # 9404, also in the "executive" colors. Both units also have fairly newly applied "swoosh" patches on the sides of the cabs, not visible here.

The winter weather delayed many trains on this day, but didn't keep the Fostoria Rails from being just as busy as ever.
