Railfan Alert # 11 - Flood Update
8:20 AM, UPDATE: Heads up for: Marion, OH to Toledo, OH via Fostoria, OH, along the CSX ex-C&O mainline.
Flooding in northwest Ohio has caused the shutdown of CSX's ex-CR Toledo Branch AND the ex-B&O Toledo Subdivision - reroutes continue to run through Fostoria today, via the C&O between Marion and Toledo, and the ex-CR Indy line via Ridgeway and Sidney.
Two additional rerouted trains have passed through town this morning:
According to scanner chatter, Q-218-22 (Indianapolis/Avon Yard, IN - Toledo/Stanley Yard, OH freight) headed north on the C&O around 7:30 pm, with GCFX SD40-2 # 3066 leading.
Q-342-22 (Louisville, KY - Willard, OH freight) has just finished rounding the southeast transfer at 8:20 am. This train normally operates via the Toledo Sub and makes the turn east for Willard at Deshler, Ohio. This train appeared, by virtue of having four locomotives (CSXT AC4400CW # 66, SD40-2 # 8810, C40-8W # 7345, and C40-8 # 7636) and a LONG train, as well as empty coke express and other unusual-to-Q-342-cars, appeared to be a combination train of Q-342 and Q-340 (Cincinatti, OH - Willard, OH freight). No doubt qualified crews on the C&O will be scarce for all of the additional traffic, so expect more "combo" trains as well.
More than likely other reroutes passed through overnight between 1:30 AM - 7:30 AM, but one does have to sleep sometime.......
More updates to come.......
