Railfan Alert # 12 - Flood Reroute Update
11:58 PM, UPDATE: Heads up for: Marion, OH to Toledo, OH via Fostoria, OH, along the CSX ex-C&O mainline.
Flooding in northwest Ohio has caused the shutdown of CSX's ex-CR Toledo Branch AND the ex-B&O Toledo Subdivision - reroutes continue to run through Fostoria tongiht, via the C&O between Marion and Toledo, and the ex-CR Indy line via Ridgeway and Sidney.
The ex-CR Toledo Branch may be able to be re-opened fairly soon. Maybe. That depends on the extent of the damage in the Findlay, Ohio area.
Today's additional reroutes since the last update included at least:
X-517-23 (normally Q-517; Toledo/Stanley Yard, OH - Cincinatti, OH freight), heading straight south on the C&O instead of making the turn for Deshler on the northwest transfer, about 5:30 PM.
Q-231-23 (Detroit, MI - Louisville, KY auto racks), heading straight south around 9:35 PM.
N-807-22R (Toledo/Lang Yard, OH - Bates Branch, KY coal empties) - not sure of the status on this one; this is a train that normally uses the C&O through Fostoria, but had the "R" designation running southbound tonight around 10:30 PM.
R-339-23 (normally Q-339; Willard, OH - Cincinatti, OH freight), stopped at Attica Junction with an air hose problem at last report, but will be taking the southeast transfer instead of heading straight west.
These are only the ones I am currently aware of; others have probably been running as well. Stay tuned for further updates......
