Blue skies and spring time may have finally arrived for good in Fostoria. On a beautiful Thursday spring like afternoon, the power for CSX train Q-634-18 (Russell, KY - Willard, OH freight) has just come off the southeast transfer and out on to B&O main 2, creeping along at something less than the maximum 10 mph speed limit on the transfers due to being on a restricted signal, as the train is closely following Q-390-19 (North Platte, NE/UP - Selkirk, NY freight) east to Willard. Today's Q-634 featured an almost all-YN2 five-unit lashup, save for the fourth unit, still in stealth paint with yellow ends. The lineup included C40-8W #'s 7912 and 7711, GP38-2 # 2802, Road Slug # 2258, and GP40-2 slug mother # 6487.

Spring may be on the way soon, but it was certainly not here yet on this winter morning of storm recovery, full of snow, ice, and grey skies.
Through the scene next to old B&O depot in Fostoria blasts BNSF SD70MAC # 9618, looking rather ghostly with its "BN" logo no longer on the nose. She is leading CSXT train U-994-04 (Cicero, IL/BNSF - Colona, PA Powder River coal loads) eastbound on B&O main # 2, along with BNSF SD70MAC # 9404, also in the "executive" colors. Both units also have fairly newly applied "swoosh" patches on the sides of the cabs, not visible here.
The winter weather delayed many trains on this day, but didn't keep the Fostoria Rails from being just as busy as ever.
